Jewelry that tells stories: the workshop where System Action's jewelry is born
In a world where fashion seems to advance at a frenetic pace, there are still spaces that resist the test of time and champion the beauty of handmade goods. One such place is the workshop of Carmen Comuñas in Mataró, a craftswoman and jewelry designer who, since 2013, has been responsible for creating, piece by piece, the handcrafted collections of System Action.

The workshop: origin of crafts
In his workshop, traditional tools, molds, natural stones, and machinery coexist to bring each piece of jewelry to life. The entire manufacturing process, from the initial modeling to the final assembly, is carried out there, except for the gold and silver plating, which is outsourced to Barcelona.
“Practically everything is handmade. The only mechanized part is the tin injection, but even there my hands are present at all times,” explains Carmen.
Making a ring, for example, can take up to three days: modeling, molding, injecting, sanding, polishing, assembling, and plating. Every step conveys the dedication and precision that the craft requires.
Inspiration and design: transforming ideas into unique pieces
For Carmen, the real challenge lies not in the technique, but in the conception of the piece. Her creative process begins with observing textile trends, color palettes, and volumes, and is completed with trips to international trade fairs and visits to the System Action offices to analyze materials and garments of the season.
“I’m inspired by the women I see on the street. Especially the younger ones. I want the collection to be current, but also timeless,” she says.
The result is collections that complement without overshadowing, adapting to both casual looks and more sophisticated styles, always with an approach of elegant simplicity: “A sophisticated look already has a lot of impact. In jewelry, I prefer simplicity and elegance, which always works.”

Materials and sustainability: jewelry that lasts
The hallmark of quality in System Action jewelry lies in the carefully selected materials: tin, brass and natural stones such as agates, jade, turquoise, mother-of-pearl or Murano and Swarovski crystal.
“I work with high-quality, hypoallergenic materials. I want the pieces to last and for anyone to be able to wear them comfortably,” says Carmen. The finishes, with 0.50-micron gold plating or 4-micron silver plating, combine durability and shine without losing the handcrafted texture: slightly matte and rough, a testament to the fact that each piece is handmade.
Sustainability has been part of the workshop since its inception: metal scraps are recycled, non-toxic materials are used, and natural stones have been used long before sustainability became a trend.
Identity and legacy: the System Action style
After more than ten years creating for the brand, Carmen knows its DNA with precision. Some designs have become classics, adapting to each season without losing their essence. The philosophy is clear: less is more, always maintaining consistency, casual elegance, and the functionality of each piece.
“There are basics that always work. I adapt them to each collection, but maintaining the System style,” he says.
Carmen also champions the value of handmade items and the importance of the public understanding the time and effort behind each piece of jewelry.

Looking to the future
For Carmen, the future of jewelry at System Action lies in continuing to focus on design, maintaining its distinctive identity, and listening to its customers. Her goal is simple: for each piece to continue reflecting local craftsmanship, quality, and durability.
System Action's costume jewelry doesn't follow trends: it interprets them, softens them, and transforms them into pieces that accompany everyday life, seamlessly integrating with wardrobe staples and special occasions. In a fast-paced world, it continues to champion honest beauty and enduring craftsmanship.
